Capstone 4: Systems Designer
Explore
Continuous improvement is driven by data and the conversations we have surrounding it. In this Capstone you will be asked to explore what a future ready school looks like and review data types, collection tools, and the laws and guidelines associated with educational data inquiry and access.
Let's explore some top resources in your analysis of how to bring about Systemic Improvement and the key elements of becoming a future ready school. As you move through the video, make note of the major elements of a future ready school. Be prepared to select an element that resonates with you around which you can gather further data for dialogue with your staff.

Exploring the Future Ready System

The US Department of Education's Office of Educational Technology launched the "Future Ready" initiative in November of 2014 - a commitment by local district leaders to foster a culture of digital learning.
The elements of the process of collaborative leadership (Vision, Plan, Implement, Assess, Refine) have student learning as the central goal.
The "gears" in the wheel (budget and resources, time, curriculum/instruction/assessment, technology and hardware, data and privacy, community partnerships, and professional learning) are key to success.
Visit the Future Ready site to learn more about this national initiative. Consider how the elements of this process can be used for systemic improvement. Review additional resources and gather ideas at the Future Ready YouTube Channel.
Finally, review the Future Ready Pledge. If you are "ready", consider committing to the effort and signing the pledge (optional).

What elements of the systemic process of the Future Ready initiative resonated with you as an instructional leader? What elements might you focus on in your own local efforts? Thoughtfully consider the impact of these and be prepared to gather some data around these areas to open up dialogue with your staff.
