Fake news, bogus and hoax websites, or bias are prevalent on the Internet. As you monitor trends in education to make informed decisions, busy educators want quick results and valid/reliable information. Take the program, trend, initiative, or strategy you explained and  further your research using valid and reliable means.

Learn how to use sound practice for educational research by completing the following:
  • Visit Thing 10: Search Strategies  and the PD Module "Searching Safely & Strategically"
  • Explore Michigan eLibrary (MEL) databases (e.g. Academic One File) to search for articles, then use the toolbox to translate content, read-aloud using the audio feature, grab citations, or share.
  • Check out Tech Boot Camp Tools4Writing for Formatting & Citation tools.
  • Learn to critically evaluate web sites or fake news with the Joyce Valenza BASIC or CARRDSS criteria.
  • Visit the Additional Resources for more great search sites like Google Scholar.
  • Create citations for at least two resources you found in your research.

Be prepared to reflect on the process and provide documentation of the experience.
